Mobile Print by Ticked Apps
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Ticked Apps (the "Service Provider", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Smart Printer mobile application (the "Application"). The Application is provided as a freemium service.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or about privacy practices related to the Application, you can contact us at support@tickedapps.com or visit https://www.tickedapps.com.
1) What this Privacy Policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains:
- the types of information that may be processed when you use the Application,
- how that information is used,
- when it may be shared with third parties (for example, Apple, RevenueCat, or PostHog),
- the choices you have, including how to opt out by uninstalling the Application.
2) Information processed by the Application
2.1 Content you choose to use in the Application (processed on your device)
The Application is designed to help you print and scan documents, and to print photos. In order to provide these features, the Application may request permission to access certain content and hardware features on your device, including:
- Camera access, which allows you to scan documents using your device's camera.
- Photo Library access, which allows you to select photos for printing.
- Files access (through Apple's document picker), which allows you to select documents stored on your device or in cloud storage providers that you choose to connect through iOS.
Importantly, your photos, documents, and scanned content are processed locally on your device for the purpose of enabling the features you request. The Service Provider does not upload your photos, documents, or scans to the Service Provider's own servers, and does not transmit them to any third party. Printing is performed directly from your device to the printer you select, using Apple's AirPrint system.
2.2 Purchases and subscription status
If the Application offers premium functionality through subscriptions or in-app purchases, payments are handled by Apple using Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). The Service Provider does not receive your full payment card details or billing information.
To manage subscription status and entitlements (for example, to determine whether premium features should be enabled), the Application uses RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service.
RevenueCat may process information such as:
- purchase and subscription events (for example, subscription start, renewal, or cancellation),
- app-specific identifiers and certain device or app identifiers,
- anonymized or pseudonymous user identifiers generated by the Application or by RevenueCat.
This information is used solely to verify purchases, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud, and provide access to paid features. The Service Provider does not use RevenueCat for advertising, tracking, or user profiling purposes.
2.3 Support communications
If you contact the Service Provider for customer support (for example by email), you may voluntarily provide information such as your email address and the content of your message. To help diagnose issues, the Application may pre-fill your support email with the Application's version number and your pseudonymous subscription identifier. You can review and edit this message, including removing that information, before sending it from your own email application.
The Service Provider uses this information only to respond to you, provide assistance, and improve support quality.
2.4 Analytics
The Application uses PostHog, a third-party product analytics service, to understand how the Application is used and to improve it. PostHog processes this data on servers located in the European Union.
What is collected. The Application sends PostHog a limited set of usage events describing interactions with the Application, such as:
- application launches and navigation between sections of the Application,
- print, scan, and PDF-creation actions, including technical attributes such as the type of print job or the number of pages scanned,
- display of and interaction with the premium offer screen,
- purchase, restore, and subscription events (for example, which subscription plan was selected, and whether a purchase succeeded, failed, or was cancelled),
- interactions with rating and feedback prompts, and taps on settings options,
- standard technical context automatically added by PostHog, such as device model, operating system version, Application version and build, device language, and screen dimensions.
What is not collected. The Application does not send PostHog your name, email address, account credentials, or any advertising identifier. It does not send the content, images, or file names of the photos, documents, or scans you print or create. Session recording and screen-content capture are disabled.
Identifiers. Events are associated with a randomly generated identifier created by the Application on first launch and stored only within the Application on your device. This identifier is not derived from your device's hardware identifiers, is not readable by other applications, and is deleted when you uninstall the Application. It is not linked to your name, your email address, or any account.
No tracking or advertising. The Service Provider does not use analytics data for advertising, does not share it with data brokers or advertising networks, and does not track you across other companies' applications or websites. The Application does not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
Legal basis (where applicable). Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, the Service Provider processes analytics data on the basis of its legitimate interest in understanding how the Application is used, diagnosing problems, and improving its features. You have the right to object to this processing, as described in Section 6.
2.5 Optional feedback you submit in the Application
The Application may occasionally ask you how satisfied you are with a feature, and may offer optional multiple-choice reasons and an optional free-text box for further comments. If you choose to answer, your rating, the reasons you selected, and any text you type are sent to PostHog together with the analytics data described in Section 2.4, so that the Service Provider can identify and fix problems.
This feedback is entirely optional. Because the free-text box accepts anything you choose to write, please do not include personal information, contact details, or confidential content in it. If you would like a reply, please use the support email address in Section 11 instead.
2.6 Location data
The Application does not collect precise location information about your device, and does not request access to your device's location services.
When the Application communicates with PostHog, PostHog receives the IP address from which the request originates, as is technically necessary for any internet communication. PostHog uses this IP address to derive an approximate location — at the level of country, region, and city — which is stored alongside analytics events and used for statistical purposes only. This approximate location is far less precise than device location services and is not used to identify you or to determine your specific whereabouts.
3) How we use information
The Service Provider uses information as necessary to:
- provide and operate the Application's core functionality (printing, scanning, selecting photos/files),
- verify and maintain subscription status and enable premium functionality where applicable,
- understand how the Application's features are used in aggregate, measure which features are useful, and improve and develop the Application,
- respond to customer support requests and provide assistance,
- maintain the security, stability, and performance of the Application, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
The Service Provider does not sell your personal information.
4) Sharing of information
The Service Provider may share information only in limited circumstances consistent with this Privacy Policy, including:
- Service providers. The Service Provider may share information with trusted service providers that help operate the Application, including Apple (for In-App Purchases and platform services), RevenueCat (for subscription management and entitlement verification), and PostHog (for product analytics, with data processed in the European Union). These providers are expected to process information only for the purpose of providing their services and in accordance with their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements and protection. The Service Provider may disclose information if required to do so by law or if the Service Provider believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process, protect the Service Provider's rights, protect user safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to lawful government requests.
Other than as described above, the Service Provider does not share your information with third parties, and does not share any information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Third-party privacy policies
The Application relies on third-party services to provide certain functionality. The use of information by these third parties is governed by their respective privacy policies, including those of Apple, RevenueCat, and PostHog. The Service Provider encourages users to review these third-party privacy policies for more information about their practices.
5) Data retention
Because the Application processes photos, documents, and scans locally on your device, the Service Provider generally does not retain that content.
Analytics events described in Section 2.4, and any optional feedback described in Section 2.5, are retained by PostHog on the Service Provider's behalf for no longer than is necessary for the statistical and product-improvement purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
If you contact the Service Provider for support, the Service Provider may retain support communications for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and for a reasonable period thereafter for recordkeeping and support quality purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
If you would like the Service Provider to delete support communications or analytics data relating to you, you may contact support@tickedapps.com, and the Service Provider will respond within a reasonable time.
6) Your choices and opt-out rights
You can stop further use of the Application at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Uninstalling the Application will also stop further information processing by the Application going forward, and permanently deletes the random analytics identifier stored on your device. You may use the standard uninstall processes available as part of your device or through the mobile application marketplace.
You can also manage Application permissions (such as Camera, Photo Library, and Files access) through your device settings. Please note that if you deny or revoke certain permissions, some features of the Application may not function correctly.
Providing the optional feedback described in Section 2.5 is always your choice; you can dismiss those prompts without answering.
If you wish to object to the analytics processing described in Section 2.4, or to exercise other rights you may have under applicable data protection law — such as the right to access, correct, or delete your data — please contact support@tickedapps.com.
7) Security
The Service Provider takes reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information processed in connection with the Application. Data transmitted to the third-party services described above is sent over encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. As a result, while the Service Provider strives to protect information, the Service Provider cannot guarantee absolute security.
8) Children's privacy
The Application is not intended for children under the age of 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Service Provider encourages parents and guardians to monitor children's use of mobile applications and internet activity.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to the Service Provider, please contact support@tickedapps.com so the Service Provider can take appropriate steps. Where required by applicable law, you must be at least 16 years old to consent to the processing of personal information in your country (or a parent/guardian may consent on your behalf).
9) Changes to this Privacy Policy
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the Service Provider will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Application after an update will be deemed acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
10) Your consent
By downloading, accessing, or using the Application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and you consent to the processing described herein.
