Essence Moins Cher - Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the Essence Moins Chère mobile application (hereinafter "the App") collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

The App is published by TickedApps, hereinafter "we," "our," or "the Publisher."

We are committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — EU Regulation 2016/679) and the French "Informatique et Libertés" Act, as amended.

1. Data Collected

1.1 Location Data

When you grant permission, the App accesses your GPS location in order to:

  • display fuel stations near you;
  • calculate the distance to each station;
  • center the map on your location.

Your location is used only on your device and sent to our server only for the time needed to retrieve the list of nearby stations. It is neither stored nor associated with a personal identifier on our servers.

You can revoke location access at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Essence.

1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following items are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to our servers:

  • your favorite fuel stations;
  • your preferred fuel type;
  • local usage statistics (cumulative session duration, install date, session count);
  • a cache of recently viewed stations.

This data is deleted when you uninstall the App.

1.3 Usage and Analytics Data

To improve the App and understand how it is used, we collect anonymized usage data via PostHog (hosted in the European Union, in Frankfurt).

The following events are collected (non-exhaustive list):

  • App opens / closes, session duration;
  • tabs viewed (Map, List, Favorites, Settings);
  • selected fuel type and sort changes;
  • station detail views, directions requests;
  • adding/removing a station from favorites;
  • onboarding steps and settings actions;
  • technical errors (anonymized error codes and messages).

These events contain no data that directly identifies you (no name, email, or long-term IP storage by the Publisher) and are linked only to a randomly generated device identifier, not to your real-world identity. PostHog may, however, transiently process your IP address for approximate geolocation purposes; see PostHog's Privacy Policy.

1.4 Purchases and Subscriptions

If you subscribe to premium features, your purchase and subscription information (purchase history, subscription status, renewal dates) is processed through RevenueCat, our subscription management provider, and Apple's App Store.

RevenueCat assigns an anonymous identifier to your device to manage your subscription. We do not share your name, email, or payment details with RevenueCat — all payment processing is handled directly and securely by Apple.

1.5 Advertising Data

The App displays ads through Google AdMob (banner, native, interstitial, and app-open formats). To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • your advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you grant tracking permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt;
  • approximate (coarse) location, device information, and ad interaction data;
  • diagnostic data (crash reports, performance data).

On first launch, a consent form (managed by Google's User Messaging Platform) lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising. If you decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or decline personalized ads in this consent form, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your activity across other apps and websites.

You can change your tracking choice at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

1.6 Support Data

When you contact us via the "Contact us" button in the settings, your email client opens with a pre-filled address (support@tickedapps.com). The content of your email and your address are then transmitted to us to handle your request. These emails are kept for a maximum of 3 years after the last exchange.

3. Origin of Fuel Prices

Prices displayed come from the French government open data portal (data.economie.gouv.fr) and are provided for indicative purposes only. We do not guarantee their accuracy or freshness in real time.

4. Recipients of the Data

Your data is never sold to third parties.

We rely on the following sub-processors:

  • PostHog Inc. — Product analytics (EU Cloud) — Germany (Frankfurt)
  • Render Services Inc. — API hosting — United States (TLS encryption, transfers covered by SCCs)
  • Apple Inc. — App Store distribution and payment processing — United States
  • RevenueCat Inc. — Subscription management — United States
  • Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited — Advertising (AdMob) — United States / Ireland

When you use the Directions feature, the App redirects you to Apple Maps or Google Maps: the privacy policies of these services then apply.

Google's use of advertising data is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Retention Period

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to restriction of processing.
  • Right to data portability.
  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time (regarding location and tracking, via iOS Settings).

To exercise these rights, write to us at support@tickedapps.com. We will reply within 30 days.

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority): www.cnil.fr.

7. Security

All communications between the App and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS / TLS. Data stored locally benefits from iOS encryption.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

8. Children

The App is not intended for persons under 15 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Personalized advertising is never shown to users who have not explicitly granted App Tracking Transparency consent. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us at support@tickedapps.com.

9. Cookies and Trackers

The App does not use cookies. Analytics and advertising events are sent directly by the PostHog SDK and the Google Mobile Ads SDK (no third-party cookies).

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be published at the same URL with a new "last updated" date. For substantial changes, we will inform you within the App.
